What is Colorcult all about?
People like originality. Colorcult was established in Kyoto in 2005 to provide people with a unique set of handbags and fashion accessories. The colors we choose are bright and energetic, to satisfy your need for something new. By purposely breaking with the mass produced, cookie cutter handbag fashion that is so prevalent today, we are making everyone a fanatic.
Where does the name come from?
Quite a few people ask where the name Colorcult came from. It was chosen because we believe that colorful, one-of-a-kind design has become the cult of the 21st century.
Who started it?
My name is Senongo Akpem. I am a Nigerian American printmaker, designer and the owner of Colorcult. I have been making things since I was a child, and have years of printing, painting, and sewing experience. I was raised in a small town in central Nigeria, where I was exposed to all kinds of beautiful people and fabrics. Naturally, I decided to make bags that reflect this upbringing.
How do you get that distinctive style?
All Colorcult bags are made with imported Nigerian fabric. We also use one of a kind, original silk-screening to give each bag its own personality. The look comes from a combination of African fabric and pop, modern design.
How do I order a bag online?
To get started, simply click the Checkout or Buy Now button in the colorcult.com product page. You will be redirected to Paypal.com, where you may sign in to your account or create a new one. If you dont want to create a paypal account, you can still proceed to checkout. You can go back to colorcult.com at any time to look at more bags before you resume the checkout process.
What is Paypal?
Paypal is an easy way to complete your order on colorcult.com. This service allows you to make purchases across the internet with a single user account while providing secure and convenient online shopping. Colorcult uses PayPal for all our online transactions. We don't see or manage any customer credit card information. PayPal is a safe, simple online payment option used by millions of people across Europe, North America, and worldwide.
Do I need to make a PayPal account?
You don’t need to create an account. Simply proceed to checkout and enter your payment information and shipping address.
Can I use Furikomi Bank Transfer instead of the internet?
Of course. If you choose to use furikomi, please contact us with the name of the bag you want, and then use the following account information th transfer funds to Colorcult. Once we have confirmed reciept of the payment, we will ship your purchase to you.

I live in Kyoto. Can you hand deliver my purchase?
Of course. Please contact us for more information, we will be happy to hand deliver your purchase.
Does Colorcult do Custom Orders?
Yes we do! In fact, many of our customers request order made bags and clutches. Contact us about a custom order today!
How does Colorcult ship my purchase?
For Japan based customers, we use the Japan Post system for all shipping. For all other customers, we use EMS, a Japan Post international shipping option, much like UPS or FEDEX.
Privacy Policy
In an effort to improve your online shopping experience, Colorcult collects voluntarily provided customer information. In practice, this is usually limited to your email address, which we use to send you information about new bags and sales campaigns. If you wish to be removed from our mailing list, please contact us here.
Does Colorcult keep any of my credit card information?
We can't. We use PayPal for all online transactions, so we cannot see or retain any customer credit card information. We can only see the email address and shipping address you provide to PayPal during checkout.
